Migration to InspIRCd 4 Completed
The migration of the SimosNap network to InspIRCd 4 has been completed.
Over the past week, we progressively upgraded the network servers and connected services to the new version of InspIRCd, while also carrying out the necessary checks on the configuration and the modules in use.
During these operations, several server and service restarts were required. This caused netsplits, temporary disconnections, and brief service interruptions.
We apologize to users and channel operators for the inconvenience experienced over the past few days.
What changes for users
From the point of view of day-to-day network usage, the move from InspIRCd 3 to InspIRCd 4 brings very few visible differences for users.
Standard IRC commands and the main ways of using the network remain essentially unchanged. The most significant changes mainly concern the internal server configuration, modules, and certain aspects of the protocol and service management.
The IRC clients and webchats normally used to connect to SimosNap also continue to work without requiring any special changes from users.
Documentation update
Now that the migration has been completed, the IRC documentation available on the SimosNap website will also be updated.
The current documentation is available in the dedicated section.
In the coming days, this section will be updated to reflect the commands, modes, and configuration features based on InspIRCd 4.
We will also continue to monitor the network and connected services after the migration has been completed, taking action if any remaining issues arise.
